7. Regardless of the duration of the media being converted, the same cost applies per unit, as per the pricing scale outlined on this page.
8. PowerPoint to DVD conversions are considered similar to editing. The price is $30 per hour for the first DVD. Prices for duplicates can be found elsewhere on this page.
9. How much does it cost to edit video and author a DVD?
My rate is $30/hour (prorated). Package deals are available. Contact me for details.
10. How much can you expect to pay to create a DVD from video?
It really depends on the nature of your project and what's involved. The table below gives you some example prices ranges. Note that these prices are just a ballpark range to give you some idea based on my $30/hour rate, and on past projects.
| Type |
Project Description |
Example Price Range |
| Editing and Authoring |
No videography. Use pre-shot video from tape, editing with several iterations and cuts provided on my website or on prototype DVD. Includes DVD authoring and burning of final DVDs. |
$400 to $1000 |
| Production |
Similar to above, but includes videography. Use my equipment to film your scenes and do post production on them. |
$1000 to $1500 |
11. What kinds of photo DVD package deals do you have?
I have two packages:
a) Basic package. Digital camera memory card transfer to DVD. Same price as media conversion. See table at top of this page for pricing. This only works for digital cameras. Transfer your digital camera pictures directly to DVD. No music.
b) Creative package. Such DVDs can be produced for about $1/picture with a $50 minimum. Typically this would involve 50-100 photos (digital or scanned), cropping, resizing, titles, transitions, and DVD authoring. If the stock music chosen is not in my existing library already, customers will be charged for the price of the new music they want to use.
12. How can I get music that I like that can be used in my movie?
I recommend music from www.stockmusic.net. A 2-5 minute music clip is approximately $30/song to buy. As of January 2009, the cost of any new music clips added to my library will be factored into the cost of the DVD in addition to the DVD creation fee. All downloaded songs become the property of Red Dragonfly and can be used in future projects for any client. However, if you find a song that you like already in my library, then the cost for that track is free.
13. What would all new music cost?
Depending on the duration of a video, two to four 4-5 minute songs should cover the video. The cost of buying all-new stock music would be $60-$120 in such a case.
14. How much do you charge for an 8x10" print of one of your photographs?
$25. Get 5 prints for the price of 4. Contact me to discuss.
15. What is the cost of transfering PAL DVDs to NTSC DVDs? (Or vice-versa?)
The cost is the same as for tape to DVD transfers. Bulk rates apply. See the top of this page.
16. How much does it cost to recover data from deleted / damaged camera memory cards, CDs, or DVDs?
Same prices as media conversion. See table at top of this page.
17. How much does it cost to scan photos, slides, and negatives/positives?
Same sliding price scale as for converting tapes to DVD. See top of page.
18. How much does scanned photo retouching cost?
$40.00 flat fee.
19. How much does restoring analogue video cost? (i.e. fixing old video from VHS, Hi-8, etc).
$30.00/hour prorated. Prices vary depending on the amount of work required.
